TZOA is an emerging Vancouver-based startup, helping people take control of the air quality in their homes with our innovative IoT air quality monitors and solutions. With the current pandemic and increased forest fire situations globally, this has raised the awareness of the importance of the quality of the air we breathe!  Our products not only detect air quality problems, but also help solve these problems by connecting to our customers HVAC systems to clean the air better and more efficiently. TZOA has received invention awards from Popular Science and Time Magazine, and has multiple patents for environmental, air quality and optical particle counting technologies. Software Test Developer

JOB SUMMARY

You’ll be TZOA’s first full time test developer - helping our software team by building and running automated and manual tests for our mobile and web apps as well as contributing to our overall CI/CD processes.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design, implement and run client-facing application (mobile app, web app) user/integration/regression tests (pyTest)
  • Develop manual software test suites, capture and document test results (Azure test plans)
  • Use test automation frameworks to orchestrate system-level end-to-end tests (combined hardware / client app / backend software behaviors)
  • Participate in new feature specification definition and develop unit/integration tests for testing new features in CI pipelines
  • Participate in the configuration and operation of CI pipelines for test automation
  • Monitor and help increase testing coverage in CI pipelines for all software projects
  • Investigate automated test failures, report test failures to Development team, create bug tickets 
  • Review customer support bug reports, validate failure conditions and generate bugfix tasks for Development team
  • Design, implement and run infrastructure tests for testing managed services (load tests, integration tests)

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A STRONG FIT

  • 4+ years hands on experience in software test development
  • 2+ years of experience using Selenium or a similar front end testing tool
  • 2+ years of experience using python and the pyTest library
  • Experience with one of the major CI/CD platforms (Azure DevOps, App Center, Jenkins etc)
  • Experience in one of the major cloud platforms, Azure and AWS preferred

Electrical Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

You’ll be taking over and evolving the hardware side of our flagship product, The Haven Central Air Monitor. This will involve the full hardware product lifecycle from schematic capture and layout to full production. In addition to this, you will be working on the hardware for other new product developments from ideation to production.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design schematics, complete board layouts, assemble, test, debug and integrate designs into existing systems
  • Confirm existing system and component capabilities by designing, testing, and executing test plans
  • Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components
  • Execute EVT and DVT builds to ensure DFM maturity prior to handoff to contract manufacturers
  • Onboarding and training CM process engineers to ensure compliance with TZOA control plans
  • Travel for onsite visits to vendors to inspect lines and ensure quality control 
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A STRONG FIT

  • 5+ years of industry experience in hardware design or electrical engineering roles
  • Experience in schematic capture and board layout using Altium
  • Circuit design experience with micro-controllers and peripheral sensors
  • Analog design experience, including experience with signal acquisition, measurement of high bandwidth analog signals and high gain amplifiers.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, and function generators
  • Experience with communication interfaces, such as USB, I2C, and SPI
  • Experience programming in C, specifically initial system bring-up, debugging and test code

Manufacturing Process Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, you’ll be working on our production and manufacturing systems - helping advance our calibration system for higher throughput, working with our development engineers on production test fixtures and generally making sure that our production systems are robust and efficient. In this role you will be developing automated quality controls using instrumentation sensors and semi-automated manufacturing equipment.

 


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the production test fixtures we use for manufacturing, both in house and at our local CM
  • Provide input into product design to ensure design is optimized for manufacturability
  • Work with our development team to design and implement new test fixtures for products not yet in production
  • Work with our development team to update and modify our existing test fixtures for higher throughput and reliability
  • Help with ongoing maintenance and sustaining of existing test fixtures
  • Design and improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
  • Develop and maintain process controls in service of production yield
  • Maintain core documentation (MFG-BOM, Work Instructions, Cycle Time, Process Failure modes and Effects Analysis, tooling/fixture/jig designing, incoming inspection documentation, quality requirements, special material handling documentation)
  • Providing front line response for production process and equipment issues
  • Serve as process subject matter expert (SME) and assist with identification and delivery of technician training requirements

 


WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A STRONG FIT

  • Education in Manufacturing engineering. Mechanical or industrial Engineering
  • 3-5 years experience in related designing manufacturing process and equipment maintenance
  • Experience with ISO9001 requirements
  • Lean manufacturing training
  • Experiences in creating procedures, processes and work instructions
  • Certification or exposure to six sigma
  • Excellent project management skills 
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to report on work progress
  • Strong experience with value stream mapping, design for manufacture, and change control management
  • Strong, practical knowledge of R&D, troubleshooting, supply chain, and quality control
  • Experience working with PLC devices that are programmed with ladder logic

Firmware Developer

JOB SUMMARY

You will be the primary contributor to the ongoing development and maintenance of the firmware stack that runs on all of our products. You will have ownership over development, bug fixing, testing and field support - basically the entire product life cycle.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design, develop, debug and maintain C  and C++ embedded programs as part of our core IoT offerings
  • Work within and expand our PyTest environment building unit and integration tests
  • Write documentation, perform code reviews and undertake other processes related to our Quality system
  • Help design and build our firmware CI/CD pipeline
  • Design, develop, debug and maintain embedded and PC-based programs used in Manufacturing Test Software
  • Collaborate with Hardware designers on board bring-up and debug

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A STRONG FIT

  • 5+ years hands on experience in bare-metal and RTOS based firmware engineering. This is a lead position and not suitable for junior developers.
  • Experience in highly constrained systems, with a good understanding of low level operations like memory management and inter-process communications
  • Experience with FreeRTOS and the espressif ESP-32 processor
  • Exposure to IoT and typical Cloud-based IoT operations
  • Exposure to low level Bluetooth and Wifi stacks such as LWIP and Bluedroid
  • Experience working on small, highly independent teams

User Experience Designer

JOB SUMMARY

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Combine UX thinking with design execution, to produce usable and intuitive user interfaces for a range of mobile and web applications
  • Use provided research to understand user’s needs and inform design decisions
  • Collaborate with the rest of the product team to evolve and refine our design system, ensuring visual cohesion and engineering efficiency across all user touch-points

Community Manager

JOB SUMMARY

You will be leading the creation and execution of a strategy to grow and nurture the HAVEN IAQ community of HVAC professionals and homeowners, building it up from ground zero. You will also coordinate with sales, marketing and product teams to ensure brand and voice consistency, keep abreast of industry developments and competitors and act as a brand ambassador for TZOA.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Create and execute the strategy to grow and nurture the HAVEN IAQ community of HVAC professionals and homeowners to over 10K members
  • Facilitate and moderate discussions within the online community
  • Respond to community member queries in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with sales, marketing and product teams to ensure brand and voice consistency
  • Monitor and report on customer feedback and online reviews
  • Monitor and report on competitor products and community activity
  • Contribute engaging text, image and video content for social media accounts
  • Manage and grow the HAVEN Beta Program
  • Organize and participate in online events to build community and boost brand awareness
  • Stay up-to-date with digital technology trends

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A STRONG FIT

  • 4+ years hands on experience in software test engineering

Marketing Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

The focus of this position is to assist the Marketing department in coordinating and executing marketing plans and strategies under the leadership of the Senior Marketing Manager.

The Marketing Coordinator’s responsibilities include assisting with the development, execution, and monitoring of email, digital, social media, and content marketing campaigns, creating original content, planning and coordinating industry events, keeping up-to-date with the industry’s latest developments, trends, competitors, and promotional opportunities.

This role will effectively coordinate the development, design, internal approval, production, and distribution of marketing materials as assigned and champion the Company brand identity across all developed materials.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Support the marketing department's initiatives with the planning, executing, and tracking of marketing programs and campaigns such as email, event, social media, or content marketing
  • Support the development and implement short and long-term marketing strategies and advertising campaigns in order to create and increase brand and product awareness
  • Coordinate tradeshows and events, including overseeing logistics, coordinating with vendors, creating itineraries, and ordering marketing collateral
  • Coordinate product, event, or content email marketing campaigns, including creating copy, scheduling, testing, and database management
  • Assist with developing and managing content and social media marketing programs, including blogs and public relations efforts

  • 2-3 years of Marketing experience

Bookkeeping Data Entry

We are trying to streamline our bookkeeping process and have realized that data entry is ​our bottleneck. This role is a Part Time role.

  • ​The tasks we are looking to fill include finding & matching receipts, inputting receipt information (+taxes) into Quickbooks
  • Iinputting categorization of expenses from our employees​ based on our GL structure.
