TZOA is an emerging Vancouver-based startup, helping people take control of the air quality in their homes with our innovative IoT air quality monitors and solutions. With the current pandemic and increased forest fire situations globally, this has raised the awareness of the importance of the quality of the air we breathe!  Our products not only detect air quality problems, but also help solve these problems by connecting to our customers HVAC systems to clean the air better and more efficiently. TZOA has received invention awards from Popular Science and Time Magazine, and has multiple patents for environmental, air quality and optical particle counting technologies. Our Mission

Senior Software Developer

JOB SUMMARY

As a senior software developer at TZOA, your work will have a huge impact on our manufacturing, telemetry and database management as well as production server operations. You will be contributing to our data pipelines and telemetry database, manufacturing test software/database along with working on some of our servers and APIs. We also do API development, IoT interfacing, data wrangling and lots of other software work too. This is an intermediate to senior position with lead potential depending on your capabilities.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own our manufacturing software code base - a set of QT based apps, a production database and access APIs that are used throughout our IoT device production line
  • Own and develop new features for our air quality telemetry pipeline and database.  This will involved working with our product and data science teams on large data sets
  • Write and execute unit and integration tests, integrating your feature developments in with our DevOps pipeline
  • Optimize and refine our data services and management
  • Work with other developers on designs, reviews and mentorship

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A STRONG FIT

  • 6+ years of software development experience including:
    • Significant C++ development experience
    • Exposure to the QT development environment
    • Moderate experience building customer facing tools and applications  
    • PostGres and Timescale database management, queries and APIs
    • Exposure to AWS or Azure backend services, including SQL and NoSQL databases, Cloudformation, VM/server management, Lambdas
    • Moderate Python development experience, including PyTest
    • Experience with IoT devices, streaming telemetry and constantly growing datasets
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively on cross-functional teams
  • Experience with software development processes including source control, branch management, bug tracking and documentation
  • Experience with complete SLDC from requirements gathering to production; show us what you have shipped!

Front End Software Developer

JOB SUMMARY

As a (Intermediate/Senior) Front End Developer at TZOA, your work will delight both our internal and external customers through our web and mobile Apps. You will be contributing to our two Single Page web apps (one written in Angular and one in React) as well as our mobile app (written in C/C++ on the QT framework). There will be opportunities to work throughout our whole stack - on API development, IoT interfacing, data wrangling and lots of other software work too. This is an intermediate to senior position with lead potential depending on your capabilities.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Web apps
    • Use your design flair to prototype UI implementations while working with our product designers, then refine your work into its final form to delight our customers
    • Build and add features to both our internally and externally facing SPA web applications
    • Integrate with third party and internal APIs to interface with our own back end processing stack as well as third party services
    • Write and execute unit and integration tests, working with QA to integrate your feature developments in with our DevOps pipeline
  • Mobile apps
    • Implement new UI features for our QT-based mobile app interfaces
    • Change content / design of existing QT-based mobile app interfaces

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A STRONG FIT

  • Multiple years of development experience with Angular and/or React
  • Full stack web development experience desired
  • Exposure to the QT development environment desired
  • Experience developing with C++
  • Mobile development experience

Software Test Developer

JOB SUMMARY

You’ll be TZOA’s first full time test developer - helping our software team by building and running automated and manual tests for our mobile and web apps as well as contributing to our overall CI/CD processes.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design, implement and run client-facing application (mobile app, web app) user/integration/regression tests (pyTest)
  • Develop manual software test suites, capture and document test results (Azure test plans)
  • Use test automation frameworks to orchestrate system-level end-to-end tests (combined hardware / client app / backend software behaviors)
  • Participate in new feature specification definition and develop unit/integration tests for testing new features in CI pipelines
  • Participate in the configuration and operation of CI pipelines for test automation
  • Monitor and help increase testing coverage in CI pipelines for all software projects
  • Investigate automated test failures, report test failures to Development team, create bug tickets 
  • Review customer support bug reports, validate failure conditions and generate bugfix tasks for Development team
  • Design, implement and run infrastructure tests for testing managed services (load tests, integration tests)

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A STRONG FIT

  • 4+ years hands on experience in software test development
  • 2+ years of experience using Selenium or a similar front end testing tool
  • 2+ years of experience using python and the pyTest library
  • Experience with one of the major CI/CD platforms (Azure DevOps, App Center, Jenkins etc)
  • Experience in one of the major cloud platforms, Azure and AWS preferred

Electrical Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

You’ll be taking over and evolving the hardware side of our flagship product, The Haven Central Air Monitor. This will involve the full hardware product lifecycle from schematic capture and layout to full production. In addition to this, you will be working on the hardware for other new product developments from ideation to production.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design schematics, complete board layouts, assemble, test, debug and integrate designs into existing systems
  • Confirm existing system and component capabilities by designing, testing, and executing test plans
  • Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for building and assembling electrical components
  • Execute EVT and DVT builds to ensure DFM maturity prior to handoff to contract manufacturers
  • Onboarding and training CM process engineers to ensure compliance with TZOA control plans
  • Travel for onsite visits to vendors to inspect lines and ensure quality control 
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A STRONG FIT

  • 5+ years of industry experience in hardware design or electrical engineering roles
  • Experience in schematic capture and board layout using Altium
  • Circuit design experience with micro-controllers and peripheral sensors
  • Analog design experience, including experience with signal acquisition, measurement of high bandwidth analog signals and high gain amplifiers.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, and function generators
  • Experience with communication interfaces, such as USB, I2C, and SPI
  • Experience programming in C, specifically initial system bring-up, debugging and test code

Community Manager

JOB SUMMARY

You will be leading the creation and execution of a strategy to grow and nurture the HAVEN IAQ community of HVAC professionals and homeowners, building it up from ground zero. You will also coordinate with sales, marketing and product teams to ensure brand and voice consistency, keep abreast of industry developments and competitors and act as a brand ambassador for TZOA.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Create and execute the strategy to grow and nurture the HAVEN IAQ community of HVAC professionals and homeowners to over 10K members
  • Facilitate and moderate discussions within the online community
  • Respond to community member queries in a timely manner
  • Coordinate with sales, marketing and product teams to ensure brand and voice consistency
  • Monitor and report on customer feedback and online reviews
  • Monitor and report on competitor products and community activity
  • Contribute engaging text, image and video content for social media accounts
  • Manage and grow the HAVEN Beta Program
  • Organize and participate in online events to build community and boost brand awareness
  • Stay up-to-date with digital technology trends

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A STRONG FIT

  • 4+ years hands on experience in software test engineering
  • Experience with one of the major CI/CD platforms (MSTS, Jenkins etc)
  • 3+ years experience in Cloud operations, Azure preferred
  • Experience in an active cloud operations center – handling alerts, incident response, root cause analysis

Product Assembly Technician

JOB SUMMARY

As a Production Assembly Technician at TZOA, you will be responsible for completing daily production requirements to fulfill sales demand. You will work with the engineering and product teams on new product launches from development into production as well as help with shipping, receiving, and maintenance of inventory.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Fabricate optical and electronic products according to product specifications, including soldering, assembling, testing, validation, and rework of surface mount (SMD/SMT) PCBs
  • Perform mechanical assembly of optical and electrical prototypes and products
  • Aid product development team with fabrication for prototypes when required
  • Hand soldering electronic assemblies
  • Electro-mechanical assembly
  • Operating specialized manufacturing equipment
  • Goods in testing using laboratory instrumentation
  • Entering product tracking data
  • Inspecting products to quality standards
  • Product packaging requirements
  • Shipping requirements and assistance
  • Material incoming inspection and inventory management support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU A STRONG FIT

  • Relevant experience in hands-on electronics fabrication, printed circuit board assembly in a manufacturing environment including rework stations & microscopes and test equipment including multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Technician diploma (or equivalent) from a recognized technology institute or college
  • Working knowledge of relevant SMT PCB techniques (IPC-A-610)
  • Experience with ESD management 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • An ability to take ownership in producing quality work
